"Poetry and Politics - Politics of Poetics" Opening Event

Beginning May 1, Dartmouth College is celebrating a week of "Poetry and Politics - Politics of Poetics," organized by the Montgomery Fellows Program, The Leslie Center for Humanities, and Associate Professor of English Vievee Francis.

Events begin at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 1, in Sanborn Library, with opening remarks by Klaus J. Milich and Graziella Parati, an opening lecture on the week’s theme by postdoctoral fellow Nathalie Batraville, a member of the Society of Fellows, followed by a reading at 4:30 by poet Cleopatra Mathis, who retired last year as a professor of English and the Frederick Sessions Beebe ’35 Professor in the Art of Writing. The author of numerous award-winning books of poetry, Mathis’ most recent collection is The Book of Dog.

This event will be held in the Sanborn Library.
